Rip-off Booze
Used to buy 3 bottles if beer for £5 (£1.66 each) from our local shop regularly which was reasonable. However they stopped doing this offer. Cheapest bottle now around £2.25. Way too expensive! Thought they were bargain not rip-off booze! There loss!

Everything is all too much for this branch …….
I dropped a parcel for collection at the Rothley Road, Mountsorrel branch of Bargain Booze I went back, and the parcel was still there 12 days later. The aggressive, rude, female member of staff on the till shouted at me ‘do not shout at me while I’m serving a customer’, after I purposely waited for her to finish with the only other customer in the shop (who was leaving/had left) and I certainly did not shout. The manager didn’t care, complaining to me (!) that he doesn’t care about parcels, because (pointing to a parcel) he ‘only gets 7p for ‘that’’ (I have no idea why he directed that at me). The female member of staff stood at the other end of the counter repeating loudly what I was saying with the manager to an elderly man, trying to goad me. If the ‘parcel drop’ is such an encumbrance for this shop, why does the manager bother?! We certainly won’t bother using this shop for anything in future as everything all seems too much for them; in particular customer service skills.

Absolutely appalled to be sworn at by a member of staff at the branch on Leigh Road, Leigh, Greater Manchester . I am not used to being spoken to in such a way when I complained that a bottle of wine had gone up by £2 in a week. I have raised the complaint with the Ombudsman also but bargain booze failed to even get an apology as the franchise is privately owned at this particular branch. I wouldn’t go back in there again…. Shocking that this is allowed

Surly undertrained staff without commen sense to deal with the public and get the job done. Won't go in another BB to collect a package, would never buy anything there, off putting name. Quality of service matches, but they get what they pay for in their employees. A lose lose situation

Mold store
On entering the Mold store you are immediately hit with the smell of cigarettes smoke. This is the case no matter what time of day you visit and happens every time you visit. When in the store it is clear the smell is coming from the store room. How can staff be allowed to smoke in the building?
Also considering that customers are still required to wear face masks why do some staff not wear them. Surely they should be setting an example? On the topic of staff the level of customer service you receive is dependent upon the time you visit. If you want a good level of service visit of an evening when the staff are polite and welcoming. However if you visit in the day the staff are not as welcoming and some obviously were not taught manners.

Used to rate them for the prices and service....but still mistakes with the change, and no itemized receipts to prove an error in pricing or
Used to rate them for the prices, and stocking beers that other places do not. That has changed after the final straw which was being short changed for a very small amount, and not even really bothering. I will ask for a receipt in future, and be more firm that the prices shown on the shelves are the prices if they quibble. I like the beers they stock, but can easily get beer cheaper and elsewhere, staff could do with some customer service training, or maybe it was an off day, not first time being overcharged and having to correct them has happened either. Would give 3, but will see if i go again, which is unlikely.

Slight edit, update december (almost) end of 2021: Went in again to the local bromley X branch in bolton, to give them a go, being the festive season and all, had the beers I wanted, no itemized receipt, nor nothing came up on till, but all seemed fine, until half way back home found out overcharged or incorrectly changed by 10p, not exactly worth walking back for, esp with heavy backpack full of shopping, but I will give them one last chance, perhaps next year and pay by card, and demand an itemized receipt. But I suspect I won't get a receipt, as they will then refuse to correct any mistakes and keep any small amount overcharged or not correctly given to the customer, not sure if it is just this branch of the franchise, or all of them, but you would think they would all operate to the same standard/s surely? Given by the lack of responses to reviews on here, it seems they genuinely do not care, but I remain open to being proved wrong. Will give them the one last chance, I even did mention when I went today their had been mistakes before, if a mistake arises next time, receipt or no receipt, I will vote with my feet and not set foot in any of their shops again. Hoping they can get this right, and give itemized receipts like the other local small supermarkets and the bigger discounted supermarkets, if paid with card, they would have no choice but to refund mistakes in cash immediately, if not, defies logic. Merry xmas all, apologies if overly fastidious.

Stay away, needlessly increasing covid risk.
Upon entering bargain booze in mold to buy tobacco and approaching the counter, I was asked to use the one way system around the shop to come back to the counter. This meant having to pass other customers needlessly during a pandemic, creating a potential risk to them and me. When faced with stupidity I walk away, leaving the shop and taking my custom elsewhere, suggest others do the same. Hope the member of staff that thought my decision was funny is still laughing now.

I called in on my local Bargain Booze shop for the first time ever. They did not even have any Rioja white which I was looking for. In my search for a bottle I noticed that the Chilean Isla Negra Sauvignon Blanc is offered at £ 6. 95. How can they refer to themselves as a “ bargain” when I buy this identical wine at any Tesco store at the everyday price of £ 5.
